Gonzales Noon Lions to break ground on splash pad in September

GONZALES — If everything goes as planned, the Gonzales Noon Lions Splash Pad could be functional by Come and Take it.

After more than two years of planning, fundraising and many, many charitable contributions, the Gonzales Noon Lions have almost enough money to fully fund the Splash Pad slated for Lions Park. The builder's deposit has been made and the club hopes to break ground on the project sometime in September.

The biggest donors to the project are Gonzales Economic Development Corporation, with a $125,000 donation; Lions Club International Foundation, with a $100,000 donation; Gonzales Area Development Corporation, with a $45,000 donation; and Kitchen Pride Mushrooms, with a $20,000 donation.

Other sponsorship opportunities are available. There are several, yet unsponsored, water features, fountains, etc., on the splash pad. The two largest water features are: a big sail boat with multiple fountains and water cannons; and an interactive teaching/learning feature called, Water Journey, which is a tiny network of shallow streams and pools with miniature dams. The two large features can be sponsored for $30,000 each. There is also a silhouette feature, with multiple geysers, which may be sponsored for $5,000; a table, which may be sponsored for $2,000 (with a plaque) and $3,000 with a logo; and four water geysers, which may be sponsored for $500 each.
