GPD clarifies counterfeit report

GONZALES — Capt. Allen Taylor with GPD made a clarification on a recent article on the arrest of two women charged in connection with the passing of counterfeit checks as well as stolen names, social security numbers and bank account information.

In reference to the Inquirer’s July 7 article on the case, Taylor said he had received numerous phone calls and visits from people concerned that their accounts were being compromised.

“What I’d like to clarify is that in reference to the documents recovered from the residence, my intention was to have the people with the listed social security numbers contacted, let them know what was going on, to keep their eye on their accounts and check their credit for suspicious activity.

“The documents that contained the names and social security numbers did not come from any banking institution anywhere,” Taylor said. “Anyone on that particular document has not had their account tampered with at this point in time.”

Taylor reiterated that if people notice any suspicious activity on any accounts, they should contact him at 830-672-8686.
