Homer Griffin Robason, of Gonzales (and Katy), Texas, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24. He was sleeping peacefully, surrounded by family as he went to be with the Lord. “Griff” was instantly loved by everyone blessed enough to know him. He was a compassionate, giving, person with a perfectly timed and, sometimes very subtle, sense of humor. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. For most of his adult life, he lived and raised his family in Katy, Texas while working as an exploration geologist for companies in the Houston and New Orleans area. He worked for Exxon, Mosbacher Energy, CNG, ADTI, and later as a highly sought after consultant, well into his late 70's. He was also a deacon of the First Baptist Church. But, his real passion was for his family and his farm in Gonzales, Texas, where he ultimately retired.

Griff was born and raised in Hawley, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas and served in the U.S. Army and Reserves prior to starting work in the petroleum industry in Corpus Christi and eventually, Katy, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Irene Robason, his son, Homer Griffin Robason Jr. (Robbie), his parents, Homer Clayton Robason and Margaret Griffin Robason, and his only sister, Glenna Holt of Odessa, Texas.

He is survived by and was very proud of his three children, five grandchildren, and one great grandson. Survivors include: Michelle Lichtenberger and her husband, Steve, of Fountain Valley, CA, Terri Robason of Katy, TX and Chris Robason and his wife, Karen, of Frisco, TX. His five grand children are Tim Withers and wife Elizabeth, and Robbie Withers (Michelle's children). David Robason and wife Houston, Erin Robason, and Michael Robason (Chris' children). And, he was so proud that his great grandson, (from David Robason and Houston), bears his name, Griff Thomas Robason. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Griff’s loving presence will be missed but never forgotten.

The family received friends and family on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m. for visitation, 11:30 a.m. service with Rev. Jeff Adams and Rev. Tom Bolin officiating, and a 12:30 p.m. reception immediately after at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 1344 West Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas 77494.
