Janie Mae Russell James

On July 23, 1948, Tommy Russell and Mary Roxie Bronox were blessed with a baby girl, whom they named her Janie Mae.

Janie was baptized at a young age at Memorial Baptist Church and later became a member at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Janie attended Edwards High School.

Janie was united in marriage to Roy Thomas James. To this union one son was born, Rory Thomas James and two daughters were born, Tina James and Stacy James.

Janie worked at Cow Palace and Elks Lodge as a cook, something she enjoyed doing. She also worked at City Cleaners for many years.

Janie loved her family; enjoyed cooking, and going to church. She also enjoy Gospel Music and going for rides. She truly enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and family.

Janie was preceded in death by her mother- Mary Russell, father Tommie Russell, son Rory James, daughter Tina James, sisters Frankie Mae William and Faye Henderson, brothers Jesse Russell and Tommie Russell Jr., one granddaughter and one great grandson.

Janie leaves in God’s care, her daughters, Stacy James, Tracy James, Melissa James, Erica James and Linda Jefferson; son Shane James; 20 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; baby sister Shari Russell; brother, Charles Russell; sisters-in-law, Lillian Vaughner and Lola Russell; special daughters LouAnn Johnson and Lisa Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
