Kingdom Rescue takes over operation of Gonzales Pet Adoption Center

Monday, Jan. 1, marked the first day that Kingdom Rescue took over as official operators of the Gonzales cat shelter from the Friends of Gonzales Animal Shelter (FOGAS).

The new Gonzales Pet Adoption Center (GPAC) is housed in the same building as FOGAS used at 505 Saint Francis Street. Kingdom Rescue and the City of Gonzales reached a late agreement in December after negotiating for more than a month.

Shelter organizers are expecting the full transition to take about two to three weeks as they train new staff and volunteers.

New shelter hours are Mondays and Tuesdays by appointment only. The shelter is closed on Wednesdays, but is open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
