Local man jailed for illegal drugs, handgun

GONZALES — A local man was arrested after police said they found him parked in front of GVEC with illegal drugs, a handgun and marijuana in his truck.

At 1:18 a.m. Dec. 12, Officer Dustin Kincaid was dispatched to the GVEC parking lot in the 900 block of Sarah DeWitt in reference to a suspicious vehicle, Capt. Allen Taylor reported. Upon arrival Kincaid saw the vehicle begin to drive off. Pulling the truck over, the officer identified the driver as Marshall Ray Lambrecht, 25, of Gonzales.

While speaking with Lambrecht, Kincaid noticed the smell of alcohol and marijuana coming from the vehicle, Taylor said.

When asked about the odor, Lambrecht denied having any contraband in the vehicle. Officers asked Lambrecht and the three passengers step out of the truck. They conducted a search that led to the discovery of marijuana and a pill bottle containing peach-colored pills, as well as a handgun. Lambrecht admitted the drugs and handgun were his. He was arrested and taken to the Gonzales County Jail. He is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of dangerous drugs and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

At 12:45 a.m. Dec. 9, Officer Gabriel Trevino was dispatched to the 1800 block of St. Joseph in reference to a disturbance. As other officers arrived on the scene, Trevino spoke with the victim, who said he was sitting in his truck in the Texaco parking lot when a man came up to him and began threatening to beat him up. The altercation culminated with the suspect spitting on the victim. Police later located the suspect, identified as Mark Donival Leazer, 47, of Gonzales, and arrested him. Leazer was taken to Gonzales County Jail and charged with assault.

Woman arrested for crashing into car, leaving the scene

At 7:07 p.m. Dec. 8, Officer Alberto Carrera was dispatched to the 1100 block of Sarah Dewitt in reference to a vehicular collision. Upon arrival Carrera learned from the victim that a car driven by Tiffany Rhodes, 30, of Gonzales, had struck her vehicle. A witness at the scene gave police the license plate number and a description of the car, Taylor said. The witness also followed Rhodes to the 2400 block of Church St., where officers later arrived and spoke with Rhodes.

Rhodes told police she left the scene because she didn’t have a driver’s license, which officers confirmed during a license check. 

Rhodes was arrested and taken to Gonzales County Jail. She is charged with accident involving damage to a vehicle.
