The Main Street Board held a special meeting on Tuesday at Robert Lee Brothers Jr. Memorial Library regarding a business incentive grant.

The board approved the $52,000 grant for the use for 415 St. James Street renovations.

The building use to be Plaza Hotel before it was burned down, due to a fire, according to one member of the board.

Harold Strom and Jeri Biddle spoke to the board about the grant they submitted and explained the use for the building.

Strom said they want to make the building historically appropriate style.

Biddle said they have requested the Texas Historical Commission to do a historic rendering of the building to make it similar to the other historical buildings.

The tenants of the building will be a general contracting company from Seguin that specializes in counter tops, remodels and granite, according to Strom.

“They've been getting a lot of business locally. So in my discussions with him, because he is one of the bidders on the property to do the work. That came up about leasing the space [for a second location],” Strom said.

Strom added this will generate tax revenue for the city.

The board voted unanimously to approve the grant.
