Marvin Theodore Philipppus was born to Adolph and Ella Tieken Philippus on Nov. 2, 1928 in Cost, Texas and passed away on Sept.25, 2016.

He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 60 years, sons Doug of DelValle, Eric of Austin, Ted of Lockhart and sister-in-law Sally Philippus of Pasadena, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, cousins and many friends.

Marvin is a lifelong active member of the Methodist Church. During his lifetime he was involved in many volunteer organizations.

Marvin worked for the federal government for 42 years, 30 of them working for IRS.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life was held at First United Methodist Church, 12th and Lavaca on Oct.5,2016 At 3 p.m.

Interment will be at Monthalia United Methodist Church Cemetery at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016, which is located on CR 112 between US 97 and FM 466.

Pastor Paul Smith, pastor of the MUMC, will officiate.

A reception at the MUMC Fellowship Hall will follow the Service. All are welcome.
