Minerva L. Peeler

Minerva L. Peeler,90, of Gonzales, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 surrounded by family.  Minerva was born October 14, 1933 in Gonzales to Ford L. Ferrell and Lena Christian Gescheidle.  She was baptized at an early age and faithfully served her Lord throughout her life.  Minerva was a member of First Baptist Church of Gonzales, where she served in numerous capacities.

Minerva attended Gonzales schools graduating high school in 1952.  September 5, 1953 she married William M. Peeler while he was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso.  She started her career with the State of Texas in 1957 and retired after 36 years of service in 1993.  Once she retired she spent time traveling the country with her beloved XYZ’s.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren to whom she was lovingly known as Dee Daw.  She especially enjoyed cooking and baking for them and anyone else.  During her retirement, she began to explore her hidden talent of painting.  She’s probably best known for her extensive collection of Precious Moments.

Minerva is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William Ray Peeler and Beverley of Kyle; daughter and son-in-law Amy Denise Peeler Manning and Bobby of Gonzales; grandchildren Kelsey Giltner (Daniel), Joshua Serrato (Lindsey), Caitlin Bales (Andrew) and Molly Manning; great-grandchildren Aislyn Shumate, Liam Giltner, Max Giltner, Everley Bales and Cam Giltner. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her infant son Allen Scott Peeler, her adoring husband of 66 years Bill, her parents and 8 siblings Charles Ferrell, Harry Ferrell, Emma (Sister) Logan, Florence Knippa, Virgie Rutledge, Henry (Bubba) Ferrell, Lena Mae Adams, Johnny Ferrell and sister-in-law Bobbie Sue Hahn.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Gonzales with Reverend Seth Pitman and Reverend Josh Breslaw officiating.  Interment will follow at the Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Tony Ferrell, Jimmy Ferrell, Randy Adams,Daniel Giltner, Andrew Bales, Dusty Patek, Greg Garcia and Stephen Ferrell.  Honorary pallbearers include Russ Hahn, Sam Turk, Dr. Terry Eska, Terry Clay, Sonny Weathers, Henry Padgett and Lynn Cochran.

The family of Minerva would like to give a special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and the Staff of Gonzales Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care.
