Morgan Elizabeth Farrar

Morgan Elizabeth Farrar, 11, of Gonzales, joined a heavenly host of angels on Saturday, April 22. Morgan was born May 26, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas to Royce Earl Farrar and Sarah Elizabeth Evans Farrar. Morgan was a member of the First United Methodist Church Pioneer Club in Gonzales; she was a multi position player for the Lester Farms 11-12 year old softball team where she played shortstop, catcher and pitcher. She was also a gifted switch hitter batting both right and left handed. Morgan had just been selected for the 2017-18 7th grade Gonzales Apache cheerleading squad and had been a member of the 4-H Sundowners Club.

Though Morgan was born in San Antonio, she was raised on a ranch in Gonzales County which fostered her love for the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing the tanks with family or enjoying an afternoon, not so quietly, fishing with her brother Levi. She delighted in practicing her tumbling in the back yard and playing softball with her little sister Maggie or just swinging on the swing set and enjoying the warmth of the sun. She practiced her jump shot for basketball while shooting hoops on the driveway basketball court and would joyfully take a break to play with the baby chickens. Living in the country Morgan found joy in picking dewberries or climbing on bales of hay. She loved to go deer hunting with her daddy and she was looking forward to harvesting her first deer next season. Morgan loved assisting her mom with the cooking and reveled in helping her mom, Levi and Maggie in the family garden especially racing them all to be the first to find fresh vegetables ready to pick She loved to dance and her moves showed tremendous promise for cheerleading routines and school dances yet to come. Morgan was a good student and her favorite subject was math. She had aspirations of attending Texas A&M University and attending Veterinary School. She may have been slight in frame, but she was a strong willed spirited little fire cracker that didn’t tolerate bullies. Morgan’s willful independence might sometimes be construed as being stubborn, but in fact she was passionate about the people in her life and making her world a better place for all, that is as long as no one looked under the bean bag in her room where she hid her dirty clothes. She was sweet, kind and genuinely considerate of others. Morgan’s bright smile was infectious and she dearly wanted to see everybody happy all of the time. She loved the beach and the family vacations that led them there. She was a small town country girl who cherished country life’s pleasures like listening to the cooing of a morning dove, climbing a bale of freshly cut hay, the softness of a baby chicken, the sight of a bass jumping out of the water to catch a dragonfly, the smell of a freshly oiled softball glove and the joy in turning a double play. Her life is a pleasing reminder of the boundless joys of youth, the wonderment of nature, the love of family and friends and the adoration God. In retrospect its folly to say Morgan Elizabeth Farrar is now an angel, she always was.

Morgan is survived by her mom and dad, Sarah Elizabeth and Royce Farrar, her brother, Levi Jonathan Hoover Hernandez, her little sister, Maggie Rae Farrar all of Gonzales, maternal grandfather, Richard Evans (Laura) of San Antonio, paternal grandmother, Peggy Sue Hinton of Gonzales, her aunts and uncles, Rhonda Farrar Hodges and Kit of Gonzales, Glen Evans of Biloxi, MS, Scott Evans and Stacy of Austin, Randall Farrar of Frisco and numerous loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Evans, and her grandfather, Russell Hayden Farrar.
