NIXON — A local man was arrested after officers said he pulled his girlfriend’s hair, bruised her arms and cut her while trying to drag her out of her own home.

At 2 p.m. Nov. 10, Officer Matthew Schorn received a phone call from a woman saying her daughter had been assaulted, Chief Mario Hernandez reported. Schorn and Officer Jerry Airola went to the victim’s residence and spoke with her.

The victim said that her boyfriend, identified as Coty Riojas, had tried to forcibly remove her from their home by grabbing her arms and pulling her hair. Officers noticed bruising on her arms consistent with her statement, including a small cut on the inside of her left elbow.

Officers then drove to the address where Riojas was reported to be, and questioned him about the incident.

Riojas said that he and the victim had gotten into a disagreement and that he had grabbed her arms in an attempt to pick her up from the couch and take her out of the house. He denied pulling her hair, however.

Officers arrested Riojas and took him to Gonzales County Jail. He is charged with assault causes bodily injury family.
