Randolph “Todd” Garrett passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 51.   Todd was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 15, 1971 to Alfred (Al) Garrett and Kathryn (Katie) Todd Garrett.  The family moved around a bit until settling when Todd was 6 in Smiley, Texas.  He was raised in the country and enjoyed spending his childhood days around the farm.  He loved being outside and living close to his maternal Grandparents, both were a huge influence in his life.

Though living in Smiley, Todd spent most of his growing up years going to Gonzales for church, little league and school.    He grew up in the Gonzales Methodist Church as a member of the MYF, and played high school sports at Gonzales High School.   Todd worked through high school and played sports, he was in the DECA coop program and competed in the competitions, which won him a trip to Nationals competing in Marketing competition.  He graduated from Gonzales High School in May 1990.  He then went on to school at Sam Houston University in Huntsville, where he made many of his life long friendships.  Through Todd’s gift to talk to anyone, smile and welcoming demeanor he flourished in the college environment ultimately being elected as President of his fraternity Sigma Tau Gamma.    He graduated with his Bachelor degree in Business Administration in May of 1995.

Todd then moved to Houston to begin his career in sales working for multiple companies of the years selling everything from wood products, to medical supplies and playground equipment.   While still single, he was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist and he taught Sunday School for High School kids.  He enjoyed giving back to the youth and teaching them the art of communication and connections as much as the Biblical lessons.   While in Houston, Todd reconnected with alumni of Sam Houston and started dating his future wife Kerri James.    They were married in September 2001.

Though the marriage ended, Todd received the gifts he had always wanted, the honor of being a Dad.   He was so proud of all three of his children and anytime you had a moment he would be happy to tell you the latest event, happenings, or funny story.  The highlight of his life was being a Father.

Todd was survived by his children, Wesley Garrett, Margaret (Meg) Garrett, and Gage Garrett.   He is also survived by his mother, Katie Garrett, sister Gena Garrett Thiele (David) and nephews Garrett Thiele and William Thiele.

He was proceeded in death by his father Alfred (Al) William Garrett; paternal Grandparents, Julius Randolph Garrett & Evelyn Garrett (Jewett); maternal Grandparents Bill & Geneva Todd.

Todd had an infectious smile, a gift of conversation, and an optimistic spirit.  The stories that keep coming forth is how he encouraged people to be their best, believe in themselves, and grew their own confidence.  He was a son, a brother both in family and in fraternity, and a friend.  His most proud title was Father.   He will be missed by the many that loved him.
