Richard Francis “Dicky” Hardcastle, 76, of Gonzales, went to Heaven on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Dicky was born November 19, 1941 in Gonzales County to Lloyd Seth Hardcastle and Irene Helen Schlick Hardcastle. Dicky lived in Gonzales, Texas all of his life. He graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1960 and married his sweetheart, partner, friend and helpmate Carol Rhea Turk on Aug. 29, 1964.

Dicky and Carol Rhea have a ranch where Dicky raised poultry and cattle. Dicky loved the outdoors; he was excited and amazed by the miracle of the birth of each calf and of seeing new grass after a fresh rain. He loved riding through the countryside, especially when the grass and trees were thriving. Dicky was an avid fisherman and took great joy in pulling in a big yellow cat. He taught his oldest grandson Tanner all his secrets of fish frying.
Dicky always wanted to make things easier for others. He never met a stranger and he had many good fishing buddies and special friends from his school days in Gonzales.
