Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Pick, 70, of Gonzales, Texas, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 17, surrounded by his family. Ronnie was born on Oct. 21, 1947 to Harry and Susie Pick in Luling, Texas. Ronnie married his wife and best friend, Jo Nell Welch Pick on March 3, 1967. Together, they lived in Gonzales where they raised their two daughters, Donna and Tracy. Ronnie worked as a meat inspector for the State of Texas for 33 years before retiring.

Ronnie was a devoted and loving family man. He adored his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and dog, Princess, to the point of spoiling them all rotten, especially the dog.

Ronnie and Princess would take rides to town every morning to get a sausage biscuit from McDonalds, one for him and one for the dog.

He was an avid supporter of all the kids’ activities including football, softball and baseball, band, 4-H and drill team. He never liked to miss a home football game if one of the kids would be there.

Ronnie enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends on cruises to the Caribbean. He never missed a chance to play poker, pool or darts at the local watering holes or spend time fishing. He was well known to this family as the jack of all trades; if you needed something built or fixed, he could do it. His craftsmanship showed in everything he built. Ronnie was always there for his family in whatever way he needed to be, from a listening ear to letting others borrow his truck to sharing his cookies. He forgave quickly and offered second chances. Ronnie was a crucial part of his family and will be forever missed.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jo Nell Pick; daughters, Donna Pick and Tracy Catchings and husband Darrell; sisters, Barbara Schroeder and husband Richard and Mary Halliburton; grandchildren, Jon Pick, Jonalynn Camarillo and boyfriend Robbie Tealer, Ashlie Gottwald and husband Steven, Dustin Catchings, and Dillon Catchings; and great-grandchildren Melody, Jon Wyatt and McKinsley Pick, Rylan and Ry’Leigh Tealer, and Addilyn and Cassidy Gottwald.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Susie Pick; sister Jo Nell Pick; and brother-in-law Sammie Halliburton.

Ronnie’s final wishes will be carried out in the manner of a private graveside service surrounded by his family to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Ronnie’s memory be made to the Harwood Community Center, Harwood Cemetery or any charity of your choice.
