Sandi Kay Gandre, 68, of Leesville, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Sandi was born June 3, 1948 in Seguin, Texas to Gilbert and Annie May Wagner Soefje. She married Wilford August “Wil” Gandre on February 18, 1967 in Monthalia. She was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and the Belmont Ladies Club.

Sandi grew up in the Belmont area; she attended school in Nixon and graduated Salutatorian from Nixon High School. She attended Southwest Texas State University before going to work for the Social Security Administration in Austin. Sandi later worked in a law office in Austin and a law office in Seguin. Sandi worked in bookkeeping for the Gonzales First National Bank and later worked for Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital and finally Wedgewood Laboratories in Seguin before she retired. Sandi wrote a popular community column she called “Sandi’s Country Fried News” for the local Gonzales newspapers. She often shared humorous stories chronicling the lives of her beloved dogs and cats and along the way shared community news and was always mindful of those in need of prayers. Sandi enjoyed music and played the piano at the Monthalia United Methodist Church as a young woman and continued playing in the Belmont United Methodist Church for a period of time. She loved arts and crafts and she enjoyed walking the isles of Hobby Lobby and picking up ideas for crafts as she perused the store. Sandi was a headstrong woman and sometimes fussed over her husband Wil, but Wil wouldn’t have had it any other way, for aside from a little fussing were 49 years of treasured memories and love.
