Active-shooter response training Aug. 12 in Waelder

A free active-shooter response training will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12 at the Thompsonville Community Center, 2774 County Road 423 in Waelder. It is open to the public.

This program, which is open to the public, is geared toward providing individuals with skills should they be in an active-shooter situation in their home, work or at a public venue.

It is sponsored by the Thompsonville Community Church and Neighborhood Crime Watch.

Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. with the meeting at 6:30 p.m., with an opportunity for questions and answers. DPS Sergeant Michael Monaghan is one of the principal instructors for Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) and Live Threat Engagement Training (LTET) and will be our speaker.
