Apaches beat Memorial, 5-4, at home

The Gonzales Apaches hosted the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen for game one of a two-game district series Friday, April 5.

The Apaches kicked off the district match strong with Dakota DuBose stealing home from a passed ball and RBI hits by Dylan Rodriguez and James Sanchez making it 3-0 in the first inning.

Memorial would tie up the game, 3-3, in the fourth, but Gonzales quickly responded quick with first baseman Brodie Ramos stealing home on a passed ball to retake the lead, 4-3.

Brandon DuBose scored the game winning run on a passed ball in the fifth inning, and the defense sealed the win, 5-4.

Pitcher Colt Robinson struck 10 Memorial batters in the game one victory.

The Apaches concluded the series with the Minutemen in game two in San Antonio Tuesday, April 9.

The Apaches will travel to La Vernia Friday, April 12 for game one against the Bears and game two is set in Gonzales Tuesday, April 16.

First pitch for both games are set for 7 p.m.
