Gonzales High School Class of 2025 will walk across the Apache Field grass Friday, May 23, for their commencement exercises, but there will be some changes to stadium bag and parking procedures that all visitors should know before they go.
Get that bag!
First, the district has a new GISD Stadium Bag Procedure policy that has been placed into effect. Only the following bags are permissible:
• Clear tote — plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches;
• Plastic storage bag — clear 1 gallon, resealable; or
• Small clutch size — approximately the size of a hand with or without a handle or strap. No larger than 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches with or without a handle or strap.
An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection, but please limit the items you bring into Apache Field, GISD administrators said.
Prohibited items include but are not limited to:
• All purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch;
• Backpacks and drawstring bags;
• Briefcases;
• Camera bags (allowed with media credentials);
• Fanny packs;
• Computer bags (allowed with media credentials);
• Coolers or luggage of any kind; or
• Diaper bags (allowed with a child).
Put it in park
The main parking lot construction, which is being done under agreement by GISD, the city of Gonzales and Gonzales County, will not be completed in time for graduation. Guests are welcome to park on the north and south ends of the stadium, where signage and staff will be available to help guide them.
The north parking lot will be reserved for handicapped parking to ensure accessibility for those who need it.
Your patience and understanding is appreciated as the district works to improve its facilities for the future.
