City of Nixon issues travel advisory

The City of Nixon has issued a travel advisory asking that residents limit their travel through the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 16.

In a post to the city's Facebook page, City Manager Harold Rice asked that residents avoid washing their clothes during this time, and warned that power outages are possible.

"The City of Nixon is issuing a travel advisory beginning immediately thru Tuesday morning," City Manager Harold Rice wrotee. "We are reporting bridges that are in the city and outskirts are beginning to form ice. The city is also asking for citizens not to wash their clothes during these freezing temperatures. This will reduce the amount of water used. Power outages could be possible as well. If you are experiencing water issue please contact the City of Nixon standby phone at (830) 857-5247."

Residents who experience natural gas issues are being asked to call Texas Gas at 800-959-5325, and for power outages to contact AEP Texas at 877-373-4858.
