City of Waelder issues boil water notice

Posted

The City of Waelder has issued a boil water notice, according to a post on the city's Facebook page.

Any water intended for consumption, either to drink, wash hands or face, and brushing teeth, should be brought to a rolling boil for two minutes before use.

Here is that Facebook post:

"(If or when you have water) The City of Waelder is officially issuing a boil water notice effective immediately.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is requiring customers to boil any water prior to consumption such as washing hands/face, brushing teeth and drinking.

The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then continued to be boiled for two minutes before any kind of human consumption including drinking, cooking and ice making.

Officials add that children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria and all customers should follow these guidelines.

Please continue to do so until further notice.

The City understands this may be difficult with the continued rolling blackouts & lack of water, we are in this together. We appreciate everyone’s patience. Be Safe!"
