Clare Jane Hendershot

Clare Jane Hendershot, 79, of Gonzales, died Sunday, September 20, 2026. She was born April 25, 1947, in Gonzales to the late Clair Clifton and Janie Etta Barfield Wright, both of Gonzales. She was a retired teacher and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelors in Education. She taught 36 years in Gonzales ISD.

She married William Ross Hendershot, Jr. on December 18, 1965, at the First Baptist Church in Gonzales.

Survivors include her husband, Ross Hendershot, Jr.; son, Ross Hendershot, III and wife Shelley; daughter, Jennifer Molnoskey and husband Jared; four grandchildren, Ross Hendershot IV and wife Callie, Tyler Hendershot and wife Megan, Cole Hendershot and wife Madelynn, and Brett Needham; five great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Emerson, Haddie, Bryce, and Waylon Hendershot. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to her loving caretakers as well as the staff of The Heights in Gonzales.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Seydler Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Church of Christ with Preacher Charlie Mills and Preacher Todd Craven officiating. Interment will follow at the Gonzales Masonic Cemetery. A meal will be held at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.

Pallbearers are Ross Hendershot, III, Ross Hendershot, IV, Tyler Hendershot, Cole Hendershot, Jared Molnoskey, and Brett Needham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gonzales North Avenue Music Program.
