At the beginning of the ceremonies Gonzales Mayor Steve Sucher made a proclamation to staff members, naming Dec. 9 Community Health Centers South Central Texas Day.

CHC of SCTex CEO Rafael De La Paz said this was a celebration of the 56 years that CHC has been providing to the community and celebrate the mission of serving those who most unfortunate and vulnerable in the community and celebrating the hard work the last two years from the staff, especially working through the COVID-19 pandemic.

CHC of SCTex is a nonprofit organization, providing health services within the Gonzales community.

“We provide services to all of the community, but, specifically, our mission is to provide services to many of those folks that are vulnerable. That are uninsured or under-insured in our communities.” Del La Paz said.
