COVID-19 vaccination clinic to be held Mar. 2 at J.B. Wells

Another COVID-19 Vaccination clinic will be held tomorrow, March 2, at the J. B. Wells Expo Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who submitted information to be added to the vaccine waitlist may be contacted with an appointment time.

If there are vaccine spots remaining once the waitlist has been processed, a link to register will be posted on the Gonzales Healthcare Systems’ Facebook page.

According to a Facebook post from Gonzales County Judge Patrick C. Davis, Gonzales County Healthcare Systems, the County and the city have transitioned to using a waitlist method to set appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations.

“Signing up for the waitlist does not guarantee an appointment at the next vaccine clinic,” Judge Davis wrote. “When COVID-19 vaccine doses are received, those who sign up for the waitlist will receive an email or phone call notification to register for an appointment.”

To sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine waitlist, call 830-672-8491 or email CVM@gonzaleshealthcare.com your full name, date of birth, phone number, and email address if available.

“The vaccines will be distributed to individuals, per state guidelines, who fall under phases 1A and 1B,” Judge Davis wrote. “Recipients of the vaccine must be over 18 years of age. These are the only populations currently eligible to be vaccinated at this time.”

These populations, 1A and 1B, are made up of frontline healthcare workers, those age 65 and up, as well as those 16 and up who have health conditions such as:

  • Cancer
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
  • Organ transplantation
  • Obesity
  • Pregnancy
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
