What will the Crystal Reveal this Saturday, Dec 28 reveal? It will certainly be more than the hands in the holes in the 40-plus-year-old curtains!
At this second annual Reveal Event the doors will open at 7 p.m. and attendees will be treated to snippets from past and present Crystal performances and catch a glimpse of new performance programs and scholarship opportunities of the future.
Gathering for food, fun, and a worthy cause, and traveling from several states, the family of local theater legend Perri Bell will be in attendance to kick off the development of an endowment. The BarBell Endowment will protect and grow the scholarship base of the Perri Bell scholarship that assist students to attend college, enrichment camps, and even private instruction in the arts.
Perri was the inspired, energetic theater who is the creative inspiration of nearly all the folks who have built the Crystal and keep it up and running; and as tonight will prove, growing by leaps and bounds.
There is no charge for the Reveal event. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the homemade holiday goodies and libations and a bit of the work of the youth of the Crystal Theater Young Texians, the Shakespeare Ninjas, and the Come and Take It Dance performers. Come and Take It Dance will even treat audience members to sneak peaks of the upcoming Nutcracker performances.
Visiting performers include musical theater shooting star McKenzie Tipton. McKenzie will partner with her favorite songster dad to accentuate the brilliant choreography of a dance by Gary Franco and newest Come and Take It dancer Ida Harless.
Ida will also be on hand to visit about her inspiration for the fabulous caricatures she has created over the decades of performances. Santa will even make an appearance, and returning to the stage in a Christmas cameo will be Greater Tuna favorite Charlene Bumiller.
But the highlight of the evening will be the announcement of scholarship dollars the family is committing to kick off the BarBell campaign for Perri’s scholarship. Not only are they providing kick-off funds, but they have offered a dollar-for-dollar match of the funds donated throughout the evening!
Who knows what the Crystal will reveal next? I bet it will be the details of fun and fabulous arts-enrichment program they are designing especially for young adults ages 18 to 35.
Don’t miss the Crystal Reveal Saturday, Dec 28, 7 p.m.
