Deputies search for Waelder hit-and-run driver

Gonzales County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident with a utility pole inside the city of Waelder the night after Thanksgiving.

According to GCSO, just after 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, dispatchers received a call about a white truck that was driving reckless and had struck a utility pole in Waelder. Deputies were sent to an address where the vehicle possibly involved was parked.

During the investigation, it was learned that a utility pole belonging to the city was damaged and had to be replaced. City officials have indicated they do wish to pursue criminal charges against the individual or individuals involved in the wreck.
