Driver who allegedly struck Gonzales Police officer arrested, faces two assault charges

Pavel Antonio Ramirez was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant and Intoxication Assault in connected to the Monday, June 14 accident that injured Gonzales Police Officer Marisol Sanchez.

Ramirez, according to DPS Sgt. Kenny Mata, booked into the Gonzales County Jail. Mata said that the investigation is continuing and no additional details are available. 

Marisol was airlifted to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle. She remained there under observation with non-life threatening injuries. 

Gonzales County Sheriff Robert Ynclan said that Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a collision between two 18-wheelers on eastbound I-10 by milemarker 655 Monday morning.

Deputies requested assistance from the Gonzales Police. Sanchez arrived and was helping to divert traffic off I-10 to Exit 653 and onto Highway 90 in Waelder when she was hit.
