Fatal crash on Hwy. 183 South
First responders and Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Deidra D. Voigt are investigating a crash on Hwy. 183 just south of Gonzales that occurred at about noon Tuesday.
A two-vehicle collision around noon Tuesday on Hwy 183 one mile south of Gonzales resulted in a road block with southbound traffic being rerouted around JB Wells Park. Members of the Gonzales Police Dept., DPS, sheriff’s deputies, EMS and fire department worked the scene which involved a GMC pickup and Ford F-150. Scanner reports indicated at least one fatality in the collision. No official police report was available as of this post.
GONZALES - Officials have identified the woman killed in the car crash one mile south of town on Hwy 183 yesterday as Brianna Leigh Satberry, 23, of Yoakum.
Police Capt. Allen Taylor reported that at just after noon Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hwy 183 and Hwy 97 where an accident involving three vehicles - two of which were traveling northbound on Hwy 183 and one of which was traveling southbound on the same road.
The accident resulted in the death of Satberry and an infant child, both in the same vehicle.
Taylor said police are withholding the name of the infant per pending notification of the child’s father. He also said the accident is still under investigation by the Gonzales Police Dept. with assistance from the Texas Dept. of Public Safety.
