The possibility of removing or filling two vacancies was discussed by the Gonzales Main Street Advisory Board at its Tuesday, March 16 meeting.

Due to concerns regarding how such a decision might affect the board’s quorum requirements under the Texas Open Meetings Act, as well as any complications which may arise from reducing the number of board seats from nine to seven, the item was tabled.

The board also received a presentation of and approved its new plan of work, which detailed strategies for advancing the Main Street department and its resources to the community and businesses, as well as opportunities for partnership with other local entities.

In other business:

  • The board approved the reimbursement of $0.29 to the Gonzales Economic Development Corporation, and the closure of the SouthStar Bank account dedicated to the program, once the final façade grant has been paid out.
  • Reports were given by Main Street Manager Liz Reiley regarding its Promotion Committee, Winterfest/Decorating Sub-committee, and Organization Committee, as well as the TXCDBG Gant match funded by the EDC.
