Gonzales Main Street will kick off its 13th annual Concert Series

Posted

In another sign of Gonzales County emerging from COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Gonzales Main Street will kick off its 13th annual Concert Series on Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5 on Independence Square.

That’s right – crowds will be gathering downtown to have fun, and not to take part in a vaccination clinic.

Please, the concert series is free to attend.

The series will feature concerts each Friday and Saturday night through June 26, and then finish off with a bang on Sunday, July 4 with concert running from 2:30 to 9 p.m.

In addition to the performers, food vendors, shopping, arts and craft vendors, drinks, and games for adults and children will be available in the park and from the downtown businesses.

Road closures

On the concert days, a series of road closures will occur. The first will be at 6:30 a.m. with St. Paul St. closed between St. Francis and St. Lawrence streets. At noon, St. Francis St. will be closed between St. Paul and St. Joseph street. Then, at 5 p.m., St. Joseph St. will be closed from St. Lawrence St. to St. Francis St.

Volunteers will place and remove barricades before and after hours.

Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair to the concerts.

As far as COVID-19 precautions, event organizers encourage attendees follow these large-event recommendations: wear a mask, stay six-feet apart from people you do not live with, arrive early to avoid crowding and congestion entering the square, wash or sanitize your hands frequently, and avoid touching your mask, eyes, nose and mouth.
