A Gonzales woman remains in the Guadalupe County Jail in lieu of $85,000 bond after she was arrested during a March traffic stop in Seguin in which the driver of the vehicle was shot to death by police.

Seguin police initiated a traffic stop on a white Suzuki SX4 at about 1:46 a.m. on Thursday, March 9 in the area of the Texas 123 Bypass loop and Mockingbird Lane. However, the vehicle fled and continued before finally stopping at the intersection of South Milam and Live Oak.

Police ordered the three occupants to exit the vehicle and the two passengers, which included 21-year-old Zoey Jade Ambrosia Solis of Gonzales and another unidentified individual, complied. However, the driver of the vehicle, identified as 42-year-old Alejandro Saucedo of Marion, refused to do so. The passengers informed police that Saucedo had a weapon on his person.

A shelter-in-place emergency alert was issued to residents in the area and negotiators who came to the scene attempted to convince Saucedo to comply with orders to surrender, but had no success. At about 3 a.m., the Guadalupe County Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was activated to the scene. Even through continued negotiations and the deployment of tear gas, Saucedo remained defiant.

Then, at about 4:43 a.m. Saucedo allegedly pointed a firearm at SWAT team members, who opened fire, killing Saucedo, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Solis was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance between four grams and 200 grams, interference with the public duties of an officer and resisting arrest. No charges have been announced against the other individual who was in the vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation by the Seguin Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and, because it was an officer-involved shooting, the Texas Rangers.
