Gonzales County welcomes first baby of 2021

Gonzales County's first baby of 2021 was delivered at Gonzales Memorial Hospital on Jan. 3, 2021.

The family declined to be photographed or identified, according to Gonzales Healthcare Systems Marketing Director Holly Danz. Information about the baby's sex, height and weight was also declined. 

“Hospital staff members are always anxious this time of year, as they await the first baby of the year. It’s always an extra special time to be working in the maternal child health department,” a release from the Gonzales Healthcare System reads.

The New Year’s baby and parents received several items, including a diaper bag, onesies, socks, diapers, receiving blankets, bath soaps and more from Gonzales Healthcare Systems. This gift was in recognition of the baby’s status as first of the New Year.

According to the release, maternal child health staff further contributed to the newborn gifts with additional items such as pillows, blankets, diapers, and New Year themed onesies. Edwards Furniture also donated a wooden rocking chair to the new family.
