Hazardous weather outlook issued by NWS

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the next seven days. From Thursday, Feb. 11 morning into the evening, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for some Hill Country counties:

“Hill Country and along the I-35 corridor from San Marcos northward. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Kendall, Blanco, Travis, and Hays Counties until 3 p.m. this afternoon, and for Edwards, Kerr, Gillespie, Llano, Burnet, and Williamson counties until midnight tonight. Total ice accumulations could range from a light glaze up to a tenth or two-tenths of an inch, especially on exposed and elevated surfaces. Travel could be impacted, especially bridges and overpasses.”

From Friday, Feb. 12 through Tuesday, Feb. 16, a possible widespread freeze is forecasted across Central Texas, which could include chances of snow, sleet, or freezing rain into Sunday night and early Monday morning.

“A hard freeze is possible Saturday morning across the Hill Country and will become increasingly widespread across South Central Texas Sunday. Monday and Tuesday mornings will be bitterly cold. There is a slight chance for additional sleet or freezing rain on Saturday, but even better chances for snow, sleet, or freezing rain Sunday night and Monday.”

The complete list of counties included in the warning is Llano, Burnet, Williamson, Val Verde, Edwards, Real, Kerr, Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Blanco, Hays, Travis, Bastrop, Lee, Kinney, Uvalde, Medina, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Caldwell, Fayette, Maverick, Zavala, Frio, Atascosa, Wilson, Karnes, Gonzales, De Witt, Lavaca, Dimmit. Spotter activation is not anticipated.
