The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs had no trouble with the Poteet Lady Aggies in a 36-18 home win Tuesday, Nov. 30.
The Lady Mustangs (5-2) blanked the Lady Aggies (2-5), 13-0, in the first quarter and outscored them 16-6 in the second period for a 29-6 halftime lead.
A 7-5 third period made it 36-11 after three periods. Nixon-Smiley didn’t score in the fourth period and allowed seven points to Poteet, but all that did was lessen the margin of victory for the home team.
Kendall Amaya led the Lady Mustangs with 11 points, while Mady Velasquez added 10 points. Greenlee Houseton had five points, while Criselle Stansel had four and Abby Fox, Natalee Mendez and Madisyne Rice each had two.
Nixon-Smiley is scheduled to play Blanco, Skidmore-Tynan and McMullen County in the Karnes City tournament, beginning Thursday, Dec. 2.
