Lady Mustangs fall to Marion in three sets

The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs traveled to Marion for a non-district match against the Lady Bulldogs Friday, Sept. 20.

The Lady Mustangs and Lady Bulldogs were former district opponents in the 2022 and 2023 seasons; this year, the teams are playing in two different districts in the 3A classification.

The Lady Mustangs fell to Marion in a three-set sweep (13-25, 16-25, 18-25).

Nixon-Smiley hosted the Runge Yellowjackets Tuesday, Sept. 24 for the final non-district match of the 2024 season.

The Lady Mustangs will open up district play against their rival, the Stockdale Brahmas, Friday, Sept. 27 on the road.

The last time these teams squared off as district opponents was in the 2021 season.
