Mustangs beat Tigers in close game

The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs traveled to Goliad for a game against the Goliad Tigers Friday, Jan. 24.

The Mustangs returned home with a, 45-43, win over Goliad and approved to 2-3 in district.

Nixon-Smiley currently sits in a fourth place tie with Karnes City and Goliad for the final playoff spot as the first half of district concludes.

The Mustangs playoff hopes are still alive with the following scenarios they need to clinch a playoff berth; Nixon-Smiley needs to season sweep Stockdale, season sweep Goliad, and beat Karnes City for a play-in scenario.

The Mustangs hosted the Stockdale Brahmas Tuesday, Jan. 28 and will hit the road Friday, Jan 31 for the second meet against the Luling Eagles.

The Luling game tips off at 8 p.m.
