Mustangs bring home Iron Titan title for fifth meet win of season

The Nixon-Smiley Mustang boys won their fifth meet of the 2025 season as they took top honors at the Iron Titan powerlifting meet in Victoria, outmuscling 14 other schools.

The Mustangs brought home a first place, three seconds, two third, two fourths and two fifths for a total of 34 points, beating second-place Victoria West by seven points. Cesar Vasquez continued his great 2025 season by winning first place in the 114 class with a total of 915 pounds combined lifted.

Other Nixon-Smiley lifters who placed included:

• Domingo Gutierrez, second, 308 class, 1,485 pounds.

• Eric Rodriguez, second, 165 class, 1,315 pounds.

• Adolfo Vasquez, second, 181 class, 1,465 pounds.

• Tyler Barrientez, third, 148 class, 1,180 pounds.

• Noah Jenks, third, 275 class, 1,530 pounds.

• Cash Ramirez, fourth, 114 class, 700 pounds.

• Francisco Acosta, fourth, 148 class, 1,060 pounds.

• Davian Ramos, fifth, 198 class, 1,280 pounds.

• Jaylun Rodriguez, fifth, 242 class, 1,260 pounds.
