Nixon-Smiley Community Festival returns for third year

The Nixon-Smiley Community Festival will return for a third year Saturday, Sept. 27, with a free day of live music and fun to celebrate the citizens and businesses of the community.

The event is scheduled to be held from noon to midnight at the Nixon American Legion Post 547, 580 County Road 483, Nixon, and is being sponsored by the Nixon Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture in partnership with American Legion Post 547 Auxiliary. This year’s theme is “Shop Local, Thrive Together” – a celebration of Nixon’s growth, community leadership, and local business success.

Among those currently scheduled to perform, according to a Facebook event page for the festival, are the Conjunto Cats, Sonic Soul (which performed last year) and Glory Road.

There will be local arts and crafts vendors and small business and non-profit organization booths as well as an auction and drawing for prizes. The Miss Nixon 2025 Pageant finals will be held as well and there will be food trucks and homemade goods as well as family fun and kids zone bounce houses to enjoy.

Funds raised from events like Nixon-Smiley Community Fest are used by the Nixon Chamber for marketing and promotion; to organize and host more community events to bring foot traffic to Nixon; for downtown revitalization projects; for workshops and training; to create business grants and support; and for future community investments.
