Nixon-Smiley’s Camarion Rodriguez named to ATSSB All-State Band

Posted

On Saturday, Jan. 11, Nixon-Smiley High School
student Camarion Rodriguez participated in
ATSSB Area South Auditions in Corpus Christi,
facing tough competition from the best musicians
in South Texas.
The district is excited to announce that
Camarion placed first in Alto Saxophone, and has
earned a spot among the best musicians in the
state of Texas in the ATSSB 3A All-State Band! This
is no small achievement, as only about 100 3A
students from across the state are selected for this
honor. This marks the first time in school history
for a band student to be selected for state honors
multiple times. Congratulations Camarion!! We
are so proud of you!!!
Camarion will be performing at the Texas
Music Educators Association Convention on Feb.
15 at the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center.
Admission is free, so come out and support
Camarion on his amazing achievement!
