Here are photos from the 4A Area Track and Field Meet held April 15, 2021 at Wimberly High School. 

Gonzales High School is sending seven student-athletes to the 4A Region 4 Track and Field Meet on Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24 at Javelina Stadium at Texas A&M University – Kingsville.

The top-four finishers at last week’s Area meet advanced to the regional. At region, the top two finishers advance to the state finals.

Peyton Ruddock clocked a personal best time of 15.58 as she won the 100 hurdles at the Area meet, held amid overcast skies and occasional rain at Wimberly High School. Samantha Barnick won the Triple Jump with a season-best jump of 34-11¾ and took fourth in the Long Jump at 16-1. The girls’ 4x100 Relay team took third. The team at the regional will be Barnick, Ruddock, Kristyn Baker, and Paisley Ploeger, with Macey Pena as the alternate.

For the boys, Derrick Garza won a jump-off with a personal best of 6-feet to secure the fourth and final slot in the High Jump, while Bryce Brown set a personal best of 11.63 second to finished fourth in the 100.
