The Smiley City Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Smiley Municipal Building.
One of the agenda items that was discussed at the meeting was considering changing the time of the regularly scheduled meeting from 4 p.m. to noon.
“The reason why this was brought up again was because we're trying to work with everybody that works for the city as well. Our employees are not salary employees, they are hourly employees. So by speaking to residents and some of the council members until a decision is resolved, they are comfortable with keeping the meetings for 4 p.m. We'll leave it and if not, y'all say if you're wanting to change it then we keep our hourly employees on the clock,” Smiley Mayor Lisa Benavides said.
The council approved to keep the council meetings at 4 p.m.
The council tabled the agenda item regarding the Fire Station Proposition for the next meeting.
