Smiley man arrested, charged with sexual assault of child

A Smiley man has been arrested and charged with three outstanding warrants regarding a sexual assault case involving a minor under the age of 14.

Michael Keith Garrott Jr., 39, was arrested by Gonzales County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday, Nov. 21, and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child as well as assault family violence on a household member which impedes breath or circulation. The first two charges are first-degree felonies, while the third is a third-degree felony.

Garrott is being held at the Gonzales County Jail with bonds totaling $225,000. This case is currently under investigation and inquiries are being directed to the Gonzales County Attorney’s Office.
