Twelve new cases of COVID-19 reported in county Wednesday

Department of State Health Services data shows that Gonzales County reported 12 new cases of coronavirus in the county on Wednesday, but none on Thursday.

This raises the count of total cases to 769 in the county, with 31 of these being active. No new deaths have been reported in the county, leaving the count at 8 total.

Statewide, 6,474 cases were reported on Wednesday and 4,923 were reported on Thursday. Two new fatalities were also reported in the state for August 18, 2020.

Hospitalizations increased by 283 occupied beds on Wednesday and Thursday combined, bringing the total number of occupied hospital beds in Trauma Service Area P to 4,356.

Common symptoms of the coronavirus according to the CDC include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
