Ramona Lynn Srubar Sample

Ramona Lynn Srubar Sample, 66, of Wrightsboro went home to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, April 27, 2024.  Ramona was born November 9, 1957, in Victoria, Texas to the late Leon and Agnes Srubar.  Ramona married the love of her life Layton Edward Sample on August 26, 1978, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown Texas.

Ramona was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Aloysius Mission Catholic Church in Westhoff where she served as a lector, Altar Society officer, led the CCD program and Eucharistic Minister offering countless hours of service during her lifetime. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend.   She had a 30 year career in nursing as an RN.  She worked at the Victoria & Cuero hospitals and served 17 years in school nursing between Nixon-Smiley CISD and Gonzales ISD.  She loved fishing, crafting, gardening, cooking delicious treats and spending quality time with her family.  

Ramona is survived by her husband Layton Sample of Wrightsboro; children Erin (James) McCray of Wrightsboro and Cole (Gina) Sample of Wrightsboro; grandchildren Sydney and Dayton McCray, and Emersyn, Stetson and Levi Sample.  Ramona is also survived by her siblings Christi (Mark) Kalinowski of Victoria, Monica (John) Sauer of Houston, James (Julie) Srubar of Houston and Dennis Srubar of Meyersville and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents Leon & Agnes Srubar of Westhoff.

Pallbearers will be Justin Kalinowski, Brandon Jewell, Shea Pinder, Brian Sample, Keith Borrer, Chad Taylor, Joey Taylor & Luke Bishop. 

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 10:00am -11:00am at St. Aloysius Mission Catholic Church in Westhoff, Texas with a Funeral Mass following at 11:00am officiated by Fr Richard Bediako. Interment will follow at Floyd Chapel Cemetery in Wrightsboro.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas or St. Aloysius Mission Catholic Church in Westhoff.
