Apaches fall to Lago Vista Vikings

The Gonzales Apaches traveled to Lago Vista Friday, Oct. 11 for their second district game against the Vikings.

The Apaches lost to the Vikings, 36-16.

Gonzales recorded 174 yards total on 54 plays against the Vikings.

Junior running back David Clack III rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on nine carries; Clack led the team with 28 yards on a single pass completion to Jermane Upshaw in the game.

Upshaw led the team in receiving with 28 yards and one catch; and led the team with 11 total tackles.

Junior cornerback Daevien Pitts recorded a pick-six against Lago Vista.

The Apaches will return home Friday, Oct. 18 for a district game against the Navarro Panthers.

This is the seventh time these two teams have squared off against each other; the Apaches met Navarro in 2014 and this first match up since 2019.

The Panthers lead the series 6-0 over the Apaches; Gonzales in the last meet they lost by one point, 17-16.
