Gonzales-based Christian/Gospel artist Neva Ford Nation is looking to get back on the Billboard charts as she reminds her listeners of the importance of getting “Back to the Ways of God.”
Last month, Nation released her newest single with that same title that she co-wrote with international Christian soul recording artist Sheila Moore Piper, Nation also announced she will be hosting her very own online show, "The Unforgettable Neva Ford Nation Show," which will debut in December 2025.
“In such a time as this, we have to get back to what's right, you know, showing love,” Nation said. “There's a lot of jealousy and envy in the land today, and people just going so chaotic and there's no love shown.
“There’s always someone that's always thinking, ‘Hey, they're coming against us!’ No, let's come together! United you stand, divided you fall, so we need to have unity and we need to have love. This song is just to get out there and touch, not only to direct, but to redirect, to reassure that it's time to get back to what God had planned for you.”
Nation said she hopes to send out a message that even when times are hard, you need to finish up the job that you are called to do.
“If God has called you to do a job and somebody comes in to tell you, ‘That’s not what you’re supposed to do’ — finish out and don’t give up!” she said. “We all have gifts and no matter what it is, God gave that gift to you and you need to get back to it. Don’t let anybody get you down just because you feel like things are getting hard!”
Nation said the polished and poised woman she presents today was not always where she was in life.
“I was a single parent for a very long time,” she said. “I was in an abusive marriage. My children — I worked and made sure they were fed. I missed meals for my kids. My children that you see today, I trained them up in the way they needed to go, and the Lord gave that to me. They didn't miss a Sunday, they didn't miss a Bible study, they didn't miss a choir rehearsal. It was hard, but we made it.”
Nation said she owes a great debt of gratitude to Pastor Kenneth D. Green, Pastor Carolyn Bolden, Dr. Johnny Fremont III, Dr. Cassandra Scott, the Rev. LaShawn Darthard, Prophetess Roslyn Stewart and Pastor Charles Roaches for helping “cultivate” her talents and leading her to find her path.
“Back to the Ways of God” beautifully showcases Nation’s unique musical style, delivering heartfelt messages of hope, faith, and inspiration. The song is high-energy and features foot-stomping and hand-clapping rhythms that will have listeners dancing and praising.
Nation’s song “You Cover Me’ was considered for a Grammy nomination and is featured on the soundtrack for the movie "I Survived Suicide."Another track, "Thank You My Everything," reached as high as #15 on the Billboard Gospel Charts and #79 on Mediabase in 2022. This song also made it onto the Billboard Gospel Indicators Charts, staying in the top 30 for 20 consecutive weeks. In 2024, she was honored as a Trailblazer at the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards.
She was recognized as the Female Artist of the Year at the S&M Gospel Awards and she also received the award for Pastor of the Year and also S&M Gospel Award Queen. S&M Production, created by Stephanie McDonald, started the S&M Gospel Indie Awards Show in 2014 to honor independent artists nationwide and help them get exposure and recognition.
Finally, her Women Rise Up and Be Encouraged Ministries will hold its “Women Of Essence” conference on Nov. 15, 2025 at GG Steaks & Spirits in Gonzales. Doors will open at noon and participants include international recording artist Quentin Simon from Houston as well as Prophetess Pamela Mayes Jones who will perform a prophetic dance for the conference.
