CATI food vendors cover a wide assortment of edible delights

There is something for every tastebud and every craving patrons could have among the food vendors at the Come and Take It Celebration, which begins Friday, Oct. 3 and continues through Sunday, Oct. 5.

There are non-profit vendors who will be located, as usual, under the Texas Flag tent on Independence Square along the Saint Paul Street side. These include:

• Leo’s Club: Ice-cold sodas, refreshing Powerades, crunchy pickles, and cups of ice to beat the heat

• Gonzales Masonic Lodge #30: Crispy boudin balls, savory red beans & rice, buttery roasted corn on the cob, and chilled bottled water

•  St. James Youth: Juicy burgers with chips, served alongside cold water & juice

• Gonzales Anchor Club & FCCLA: Fresh-popped popcorn and creamy cheesecake on a stick

•  The Edwards Association: Golden fried fish, crunchy hush puppies, hot fries, cheesy chili fries, and frosty snow cones

•  Catholic Youth: Refreshing water & fresh-brewed tea to quench your thirst

Commercial vendors are located in the square outside of the tent in their own food trucks or booths. They include:

• Alright Boyz BBQ: Legendary giant smoked turkey legs, tender beef sandwiches, loaded brisket nachos, smoky Frito pies, cheesy nachos, and crispy fries.

• The Dawg Haus: Gourmet hot dogs piled high with toppings, melty nachos, and creamy mac n cheese bowls

• Da Spot: Ice-cold aguas frescas (cucumber lime, strawberry lemonade, watermelon, horchata), plus sizzling mini tacos, stuffed gorditas, cheesy quesadillas, crispy chicken strips, hearty burritos, and fries topped every way imaginable

• Taqueria Dolores: Authentic street tacos, flavorful tortas, warm gorditas, cinnamon-dusted churros, crunchy duros, roasted corn in a cup or on the cob, sweet Mexican snow cones, and traditional Mexican candies

• JNR Pizza: Giant, cheesy slices of pizza served with classic Texas sweet tea and fresh lemonade

• Kenny’s Shaved Ice: Mountains of soft, colorful shaved ice

• Texas Event Catering: Hearty loaded baked potatoes piled high with all the fixings

• Gem's Sweets (under tent): Crispy brisket and chicken fajita egg rolls with a savory crunch, plus refreshing tea and water

• Leesville Cafe Funnel Cakes (under tent): Fluffy funnel cakes dusted with powdered sugar, crispy fried Oreos, and fresh-squeezed lemonades

From smoky BBQ and authentic tacos to sweet treats and frosty shaved ice, there’s something delicious for everyone at Come and Take It!
