When it comes to the behind the scenes work that makes the Come and Take It Celebration run smoothly, one name always comes up: Frank Wallace. For several years, Frank has served as the Grounds Chairperson, stepping in to take on a big job once held alongside longtime partner Kenny Hyden, who retired last year.
Frank’s role covers an incredible range of responsibilities. He works closely with the City Police Department, Sheriff’s Office, Event Productions, the cleaning crew to ensure that the festival grounds are safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone. From staging tables and chairs every night, to monitoring roll offs and coordinating port-o-potty service.
His work also extends to carnival setup, tent placement, parade route logistics on the grounds, barricades, and safety measures. As the festival has grown, more streets have been closed for safety and additional police officers brought in to manage the crowds, and Frank has been right there helping make those decisions possible.
On top of all that, he assists with loading beer and liquor trailers, vendor parking, refilling refrigerated trucks to keep ice cold, and monitoring prohibited items on festival grounds. Simply put, if it keeps the celebration running, Frank has a hand in it.
Outside of his volunteer work, Frank owns Wallace Electrical Company, and through his business and his time, he contributes enormously to our organization and community. The Come and Take It Celebration Committee is grateful for his dedication, hard work, and the countless hours he gives to make Come and Take It a success year after year.
