Two Gonzales County high school boys basketball teams will be in action next week in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

The Gonzales Apaches return to the Class 4A playoffs for the first time since the 2021-22 season when they take on the Pearsall Mavericks in a Division II bi-district matchup. The Apaches come in as the top Division II seed from District 28-4A after finishing second overall in district play, while the Mavericks are the second Division II seed from District 27-4A after finishing in third place in their district.

The game will tipoff at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Stockdale High School.

In Class A, the Waelder Wildcats are a perennial playoff team as they have been in postseason play for more than 15 seasons in a row. After finishing in a tie for second place in District 30-A, they are slotted in as the second seed in the Division I playoff and will face the Fayetteville Lions in a bi-district contest that tips off at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Columbus High School. The Lions are the first place team from District 29-A.
