Gonzales County Sheriff’s deputies have charged a man with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a shooting which took place on Sunday, June 1 in Harwood.
According to GCSO, deputies responded to a residence at about 12:04 p.m. Sunday for a report that two people had been shot during an altercation at the home.
When deputies arrived on scene to begin their investigation, they discovered a 64-year-old male had been shot and was deceased. They also discovered a second individual — a female — on scene suffering from a single gunshot wound to the arm. She was transported by ambulance to Gonzales Healthcare Systems for medical treatment in stable condition.
The man identified as the shooter, Ethardrell Flowers Jr., was still on the scene and was taken into custody by deputies, who called the GCSO Criminal Investigations Division to the scene as well as the Texas Rangers.
Flowers Jr., whose last known address was in San Marcos, was booked into the Gonzales County Jail and is being held in lieu of bond totaling $600,000.
The names of the victims were not being released yet by GCSO. An investigation was still pending with the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office, which was scheduled to perform an autopsy on the deceased.
“The Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office wishes to extend condolences to the family for the loss of their loved one,” Sheriff Keith Schmidt said in a statement.
