The 18-month-old Gonzales girl who was apparently stabbed and injured by her mother, Juana Vasquez, late last week, continues to heal from the injuries that included a broken arm.

Vasquez remains in custody at the Gonzales County Jail after being charged with injury to a child, a Class A felony which can carry as much as a life in prison sentence.

Police officials said Vasquez walked to the local EMS office to seek medical help for her child. She was later flown to University Hospital in San Antonio for treatment and has now been released.

The girl and her three-year-old brother are now being housed in a CPS foster home.
